Events concerning video games in 1995. The year saw the release of many new well-received titles, including the fighting game Battle Arena Toshinden; first person shooter Star Wars: Dark Forces; JRPG Chrono Trigger; platformers Jumping Flash! and Rayman; puzzle game Mario's Picross; racing game wipE′out″; and vehicular combat titles Destruction Derby and Twisted Metal. It also saw the release of a number of important sequel titles, including the fighting game Tekken 2; JRPG Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation; platformers Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Mega Man 7, and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

The year's highest-grossing arcade game in Japan was Virtua Fighter 2, while in the United States they were Daytona USA (for the second year in a row) and Mortal Kombat 3. In the home market, the highest sales known was for Dragon Quest VI, despite it only releasing in Japan at this juncture. The best-selling console in Japan was the Super Famicom and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System was the best seller in North America.
