Brave Fencer Musashi (ブレイヴフェンサー 武蔵伝, Bureivu Fensā Musashiden, "Brave Fencer: The Legend of Musashi") is an action-adventure RPG game developed and published by SquareSoft and released for the Sony PlayStation in Japan on July 16, 1998 and later in North America on November 12, 1998. It received a sequel entitled Musashi: Samurai Legend in 2005 for the PlayStation 2.

The story follows the reincarnated legendary hero Musashi, a young swordsman who is summoned to a parallel world to defend Princess Fillet and the Allucaneet Kingdom from the evil Thirstquencher Empire under Fuhrer Flatski and their magical bincho field prisons. To awaken the latent powers of his sapient sword Lumina, he searches for the Five Scrolls all across the kingdom while interacting with the Alucaneet citizens, primarily those that live within Grillin' Village.

Gameplay[]

The game involves real-time sword-based combat in a 3D environment; it also features segments of voiced over dialogue and role-playing game elements such as a day-night cycle and resting to restore energy.

Trivia[]

  • At the time of release, the game was infamous for being released with the demo CD for Final Fantasy VIII, which led to this game being highly sought after.
