"What an ugly thing it is. Do you think it knows what's going on?"
— Mark

"Who cares what that thing understands, Mark—it killed our father! Why doesn't it die is what worries me!"
— Marie

Marie is the love interest as well as a secondary character and the primary antagonist in the 2022 indie horror title, I live under your house.

ILUYH Marie & Mark

Marie and her brother, Mark.

ILUYH Marie Dies

Marie gets killed by the creature.

Marie moves into the home above the creature after her father is killed and continues to make noise as she moves in, bringing the creature to the surface one night to feed on her. However upon seeing her it falls in love and is unsure what to do. Later the creature brings her its favorite skull with hopes of impressing her but when it returns the skull is already gone and she has disappeared as well. She and her brother capture the creature and drag it to the basement but refuse to cut it to pieces, leaving it to awaken later and pursue them into the surrounding forest where they attempt a ritual. However, having forgotten the candles the creature regains its strength and realizing that Marie does not love it back, it proceeds to abscond with her back into its burrow to kill her, seemingly leaving Mark behind. The creature then begins to pupate.

Trivia[]

  • Although Marie's fate will always remain the same no matter the player's choices, what happens to her after the creature kills her can alter slightly:
  1. In Ending 1 ("Good Ending?"), the creature stops hearing the voices that have been tormenting it for years. It does not appear to have brought Marie's corpse to the tunnels and does not acknowledge her there, having instead slipped into a deep bout of depression. As it dies alone, it regrets having not killed her when it saw her asleep in her bed for the first time.
  2. In Ending 2 ("Bad Ending?"), realizing that she is unable to love him breaks the creature's heart and it loses the will to fight against what it feels is its purpose now. Her skull becomes just another skull in his collection. The creature goes mad and embraces the voices that mock him daily, transforming it to enjoy torturing and feeding on victims rather than only doing so when it absolutely needed to feed. Ultimately Marie's skull becomes hard to find among the other skulls in the pile.
  3. In Ending 3 ("Joyful Ending?"), the creature moves into her home and replaces her television set with a pot displaying parts of her corpse. He speaks to her body often and eventually fills her body with his own larvae, which he then takes back town to his old tunnels to hatch on their own.
