I'm back again. Sorry for not editing and kind of leaving you be for the last few weeks but I should be active within the next month. Got a lot of stress off of me and now I'm relaxed and can do personal interests
Hey! No problem. I've obviously been trying to work on the Final Fantasy XIII series lately; got the ENTIRE story for XIII-1 down. Still have most of the characters and all of the games' enemies to add, though. Currently working through XIII-2 and since XIII-3 came out today I will probably work on that as a follow-up. The story recaps for XIII-2 seem different than for the original so it will likely be much harder to add the whole synopsis on here as it appears to be all based on cutscenes instead of text. The time portals have info I can read and add in, however, at the very least.
Been playing any good games lately? Don't know if you have an Android phone or anything, but Nimble Quest is pretty fun, and free.
Great! XIII-2 is actually one of the first role playing games I've played. Rented it at Blockbuster because I planned to do a game commentary series like a total idiot (I was 12 at the time you cant blame me lol) I actually liked most of the mechanics but the story was goofballs to me and I couldn't get past the beggining because my save corrupted.
I've been pretty much sticking to PS4 and WiiU lately (planning to get a new game with my saved up cash unfortuneately Gamestop is overpriced) Lego:Marvel Superheroes is a blast to play with my younger brother but most of all I'm just playing Super Mario 3D World.
Also planning to get a Retro Duo Portable. It's a portable system that plays Nes\Snes and can hook up to your TV. I want to get into all generations of gaming but the problem about this is that these things get bidded like crazy on Ebay hard not to get one that's overpriced.
XIII-2 is definitely great. And in all honesty, I might be doing game commentary soon myself with my couch co-op friend haha... primarily because he is essentially begging me to. That Retro Duo Portable sounds like something I need! You sound like you are growing into a kid after my own heart, as I have been a console collector since childhood myself!
I have my Android phone of course, but also a Microsoft Xbox and Xbox 360; Nintendo Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy SP, Game Boy DS, NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, and Wii; Sega Game Gear, Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast; as well as a Sony PlayStation, PS2 and PS4. I am also planning on buying a 3DS soon and am looking into finally purchasing a PS3. There is also a Wii U for sale in this town that if my friend doesn't purchase, I will. :D
That would be great! If it's really good I would definitely mention it to friends and a gaming account that I have on Instagram that has 400+ followers in which I tell what gets released that day. Not saying that you should create an Instagram but I was just running out of uses for mine and started something new that has been going pretty well!
Also I traded The Lego Movie Game for the Playstation 4 (hated that game was crap but thankfully I payed it with a giftcard) for a couple of Blu-Rays. I feel as if I should have gotten a Game Boy Advance instead as I need one but I would like an Advance SP better.
Got two GameBoy games aswell. One horribly liscensed Ren & Stimpy game and another liscensed game but kind of addicting and hard. Reminscent of Dark Souls for me.
I would get the 3DS in a heartbeat. The WiiU is great and all but doesn't have that many games though I'm sure Mario Kart 7 will change that and I would only get a Playstation 3 if you wanna play some JRPGs you missed out on.
Oh yeah? Awesome! I bet my friend would love that too, haha.
Oh yeah? Dark Souls is awesome just for going back to the unforgiving challenge of the old NES/Arcade games of the past. What was the name of that game you got?
In my case, I really would want the PS3 for inFamous (which my cousin Woody did the environments for) and maybe Resistance, as that seemed interesting and I am the major contributor to Alien Species Wiki. I will absolutely need to get the WiiU... but not until the next Metroid or Legend of Zelda game comes out haha.
Oh hey, I remember the Hudson Hawk movie. Didn't know they licensed a video game for it. Great to hear that the game is pretty good!
It's crazy to think I've been on this wiki a year already. Haha, well I COULD technically ask him if he knows anything that is going on with Forza Horizon 2, though it's entirely possible that any info is still a company secret in which case he may or may not inform me about it (on some occasions he's shared info with me and other times he has kept it to himself). :P
Too bad about the other two Resistances, I love great trilogies. Xbone? That's the first time I've seen it typed that way haha. I still refer to it as the 720, myself. I haven't heard of Sunset Overdrive yet.
My friend is pretty excited to possibly have an immediate fanbase. We will work on a series name and collecting the tools to film it all.
Good thing your excited. I swear this isn't a hoax! I'll probably link you to the page once I shout it out.
Sunset Overdrive is a new IP announced at last years E3. It's a co-op third person shooter in a colorful vibrant city attacked by aliens. Kind of reminds me of Fortnite. Unfortunately there hasn't been much news about it.
I was joking about the Forza Horizon 2 thing. I would still be cool though as it would be a good way for my account to get even more attention which helps your plug on my account get even more attention, however I'm not sure how I'm gonna verify it and make people believe it.
P.S. I think theres a Haudgepauge Game Recorder that records from Nes all the way to 7th gen. Don't know what it's called though. It's used by a popular web show I watch called Game Grumps maybe you can find something out about it by googling it with that keyword.
Oh man, aliens?? Aliens is my major selling point! Fortnite I have also never heard about. O.O
Yeah, that's true. And depending how hush-hush they are about the game, he would need to give info as "an anonymous source", which wouldn't help any.
Oh that sounds interesting, I will definitely have to check it out... here on Tuesday. I wrecked my laptop so have to buy a new one and my access to a computer that I am using right now is at work. And this is my Friday, haha. Soon, though! SOON.
That sucks. What happened to your laptop? I actually dropped my Wii U once while putting it in a carrying case. Some how it survived. It landed on the eject button and only caused a few scratches. Thank god. Speaking of scratches those Playstation 4 controllers are industructible. Not only are they super comfortable but I've dropped them when they are connected to the console and they don't even leave a scratch!
It doesn't matter if I say it's an anoynmous source. Some guy on Neogaf claimed he knew info about the next Assassins Creed and if the leaked photos are actually true he's right! So if they are actually making it that would be pretty cool if I pinpoint it thanks to you.
Im not even sure if Sunset Overdrive is aliens sadly. They havent really stated anything about the game which is pretty weird since they announced it about a year ago. Same thing that happened to Fortnite(it was developed by Epic btw)
Well, you see there used to be a time when a person would have electronics malfunction in the screen area and you would tap it and it would generally recover. Apparently, even a light tap on modern screens causes it to shatter irreparably. And I mean a LIGHT tap, not light by comparison.
Man, that's good about the WiiU. I don't have one yet but those things are pretty expensive to decimate! Speaking of PS4, I have to go pick up Second Son here in a few days despite being broke. Gamestop sucks and won't take a note for my last 4 soc. so I can call in to have someone without my same last name pick up stuff for me -- because I live 110 MILES OUT OF TOWN and literally NOBODY in my family have the same last name as I do.
That WOULD be really cool to have lent a hand to the gaming community as a whole. That's weird about Sunset Overdrive; but then again, Blizzard is STILL keeping Project Titan under heavy secrecy. I mean, what kind of MMO could they be building there? It isn't Warcraft nor StarCraft and I believe they also said not Diablo -- what other series do they have? Lost Vikings wouldn't make a good MMO really, and though I REALLY love Blackthorne nobody else knows about it anymore so seems incredibly unlikely.
Oh wait is Fortnite the one where you have to survive by scavenging supplies in a town against other groups of survivors? Because if so, I remember reading about that one and it sounds AMAZING.
That sucks about Infamous. Fortuneately it's a very good game and should keep you busy for a while. I'm running out of money quickly too lol because I've saved most of it up for games but I believe it will only run me till June or so.
About Infamous:It's super fun. I've heard some critics complain that it's generic but since you are constantly getting new powers it doesn't really feel that way. Except there was one part that was like impossible where you had to go against 100 something DUP dudes in a confined space and it's SUPER easy to die. Took me like a half and hour.
Oh ya that Project Titan. I had to look it up to refresh my memory of it. Maybe it's Starcraft Ghost?! Naah thatll never happen. :(
I don't think Fortnite was about that but it sounds somewhat oddly familiar. Do you remember where you read about it? I may be able to track it down.
Today will be the day I go grab inFamous. I need to remember to count all of my games/DVDs too to see if I can't find display stands for them, to get them off of huge stacks covering my floor, haha. Saw one that holds ~100 or 200 or something for $8 last time I was in town but I've been told I definitely have WAY more than that, like maybe 500. I am not entirely sure that number is accurate at all and definitely better count these. I would certainly like a little extra space to move around and set up my couch co-op section better, y'know..?
Generic don't matter to me so long as it is fun. Storyline is important, as is originality, but not so important that I won't touch it if it isn't grand on both or either of those. Heck, I played games like MorphX, Two Worlds and Star Trek just for the sheer terribleness of them and enjoyed it, haha.
StarCraft Ghost would be AMAZING!! ..however I recall them explicitly stating that it is a game not belonging to any of their three flagship series. It also won't be anything like World of Warcraft as they said they hate making games that are the same as another one they've done in the past. They like to push the envelope a little.
I read about that zombie game I am thinking of in a Game Informer magazine, probably a couple of years ago by now.
Thrift Stores are good places to get bookcases. Speaking of them I scored last time I went there getting 5 Xbox and pS2 games for 15 bucks that are worth about 50. It was a suprise because usuallly I find nothing there. Taraaah!
Oh god Star Trek?! I remember that game was supposed to come out in 2012. JJ Abrams was assigned to it to. And then he left the project and it pretty much fell down the drain. So much potential wasted :(
Starcraft Ghost could come back. Yes it would have to start back at the drawing board but they never said they cancelled it. Doubt it though.
I think that might have been Division 9. That was made by Irrational Games and was cancelled cause they couldnt find a publisher. Sucks. It looked freaking amazing.
Well, what I ended up doing was making my own bookshelves, using lumber lying around my family property. Made it 6ft by 3ft expecting to have plenty of room for extra stuff in the future -- turned out it just barely fits all of what I have now, hahaha... ah well. Works well though!
Yeah, it really is too bad about Star Trek. I loved the Gorns and it was interesting seeing them come back, but that game was terrible. So terrible in fact I chose to collect achievements in MorphX over it, and MorphX was bloody awful... although the aliens in it were cool.
I wish StarCraft: Ghost would come back. Exploring the StarCraft universe first-hand has been a desire of mine for quite some time. Almost as important to me as seeing the origin races of all the Zerg strains instead of just hearing about them.
Ahhh that's too bad. These publishers suck, honestly, we've lost several of the likely best games to be made because nobody would take the risk. We've lost that zombie game, we've lost American McGee's Oz, the list goes on, I tell ya.
Wouldn't American Mcgee's Goldilocks be cool or is it just me? Totally about that publisher thing. The only publishers that are varying out are the newcomers. 505 Games,Deep Silver, Nordic etc. And even they produce their fair share of shit.
Fortnites back by the way! Its gonna be in the next GameInformer. They are really bringing titles that have dissapeared back in the news. I bet Insane will be next
You know JJ Abrams left the Star Trek game a while after it was finished? Not surprising at the least. Seems like noone can do the Star Trek series justice
Oh man, I'D love it. I am a big fan of American McGee's stuff. I'm really pretty disappointed about the loss of Alice: Otherworlds as a game (having now become a series of animated shorts instead). For some reason he can never get his stuff to find a publisher. Because of it he had to turn Oz into a comic; which is cool and all ofcourse but the RPG would have been cooler.
I look forward to hearing about Fortnite again!
It's sad about Star Trek, because it seems to be the best Trek game ever, hahaha... with the solitary exception of maybe Star Trek Online, which I haven't played but some of my good friends really enjoy.
Didn't Bethesda make a shovelware Star Trek strategy game for the PS2 and Wii? Heard that was decent.
How are you enjoying Second Son? I just finished it. Not as emotionally gratifying as the other inFamous games but still pretty fun. If you havent gotten the third power yet, it's the best. Not gonna spoil what it is though.
Fortnite is gonna be a PC exclusive which kind of bums me out. Have always been a console guy but my friend convinced me to play League for some reason. It also looks vastly different from the trailer.
Oh btw whatever happened to that Youtube commentary thing? I can always help!
To be honest, I actually haven't even opened my PlayStation 4 box yet, let alone started up any games for it. I need to do some cleaning to make some ample room for it and its ventilation needs, but my two days off a week tend to consist of over one full day of sleeping, and that remaining time tends to barely make up for the mess I make each month. So so far, it's been a no-go. Eventually though, I'm sure. :P
That's unfortunate about Fortnite. I actually used to greatly prefer PC games to any other console type, but because I don't uninstall my games ever and that would lead to no hard drive space ever, I no longer feel that way. Speaking of PC games though, I bought all of the Command & Conquer and Elder Scrolls games again! I am super excited to start playing Command & Conquer: Red Alert and The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall as well as The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind again! ...Getting some more challenges completed in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions sounds like the better way to go for now, however, hahaha. I just want those last unlockable costumes!
YouTube commentary thing is still planned to happen though we have to get the equipment first and foremost, and I think my commentary partner, Charles, is currently too busy chasing tail at the bars. I haven't seen him in a few weeks outside of at his work, hahaha.
Oh, trust me, it is a tiring job. Doesn't help that all the other important employees quit, leaving me to be the one and only person working there who actually knows how the business works. They brought in a manager from another grocery store our company owns and he realized our system is so different than his he can't do anything. Everybody else is new and/or from Europe with little working knowledge of the English language. XD
You know, I don't know how much the boxed set cost. Found it at Wal*Mart. I don't think I actually knew when I picked it up, either. :P
Commentary's still planned, though I have been my free time lately at the hospital. Got a serious issue right now that I am trying to remedy but doctors in this state are really kind of terrible at their job, usually. No one knows what it is, yet, or even see anything going on, despite it being obvious. Annoying and expensive (for the gas money, not the appointments, since I am native and therefore get free healthcare).
You know, I have never actually played a game Arkane Studios has touched yet... does that make me a terrible person? (I am voting for "probably".)
Damn. That job sounds harsh. I'm sure better things will come soon though. Life always has little ways to fit things in like that.
I've never been to Walmart so I don't know if they actually have good deals or not but I remember seeing multple posts on Reddit about one's in the middle of nowhere having like sealed games from 5 years ago. Pretty cool.
What issue? (If it's ok I ask) Good thing you get free healthcare. Sounds like a lifesaver right there (budumtsh that was a really bad pun)
Arkane actually havent made that many games actually but believe it or not they actually worked on Half Life 4 for a couple of months. Pretty weird.
Haha, well in my case that is the vast majority of my life story. In related news, today we got a bunch of our J1s (seasonal European employees), and our new female manager (different than the one listed above) started working today. I spent today training 3 different people. Including the new manager.
Wal*Mart has good prices but you always have to keep in the back of your mind that they get those low, low prices through some really terrible and backhanded techniques. It is also literally their business plan to set up in small towns to eradicate all small business. Also, child labor. Problem with the old sealed games is that their prices never go down and are always still around $40-50. :P
What I have is pretty serious no matter what it is, but the three current ideas of what it might be are a MERSA staph infection (extremely deadly and contagious), a hernia (incredibly debilitating), or just straight-up cancer. Of course, nobody at hospitals up here actually know how to do their jobs and so you just kind of get the run-around for sometimes years and nothing ever gets solved. That's both for the free native health care clinic as well as the one for Joe Everyman.
I love the Half-Life series, and when I say that, I should indicate that I only ever played Half-Life, Half-Life: Opposing Force, Half-Life: Blue Shift, Portal, and Portal 2. Oh, and as far in Half-Life 2 as they would let you carry the boot at the very beginning of the game (up until you get teleported somewhere). I actually quit because I couldn't take the boot with me any further haha.
That sounds tiring. If youre doing all that work they should really pay you more. Hopefully youre boss notices.
True True. I should have stated that when I was talking about it. But Walmart is starting to except used games now so that could change sooner or later.
That sounds really scary. I remember watching something on 60 Minutes that talks about a truck that brings free exams to people. Unfortunately its only in West Virginia. Maybe Reddit might be a good place to talk about it. Like you could tell them how youve been feeling and they can maybe figure it out. (but then again I'm not a doctor)
It's funny you say that -- I actually get paid more than the manager, hahaha.
Have they? I've not seen any used games at Wal*Mart up here, but then again I am sort of in the middle of nowhere.
It's definitely a serious problem, which they have yet to call me back on so far. I've actually never been on Reddit and don't know really anything about it, or even really what kind of site it is. Sort of like how I still haven't ever visited Amazon.com. >.>
I've no idea if it is or not. I've only played Half-Life 2 on PC, when it first came out.
Well thats good! At least they notice your hard work.
Theyre gonna start introducing the used games in October,I believe.
Reddit's actually pretty cool and there aren't a lot of dumb people on it because the layout is so crap looking so not that many people stay and try it out. It's definitely gotten better over the years. Basically there's subreddits for different topics and if you make a post on a subreddit that gets upvotes (likes) you get karma that lets you post and comment more and I believe making your posts more popular. It's pretty nifty and it's like they only website that you don't need a bunch of information to register considering the day and age we are in.
Doesn't Steam have achievements? There's actually an achievement for The Stanely Parable for not playing the game in five years. Will Steam even be around in five years?
Yeah, I make $12 or $13 and my manager makes minimum wage, haha.
Interesting, I will have to keep an eye on that -- Wal*Mart is one of the only places I get to go when I go to town. There really isn't a whole heckuva lot in Fairbanks.
So there's a limit to how much you can comment or post?
I don't know if Steam was at that level yet when Half-Life 2 first came out. It was originally just an online server thing for Counterstrike, back in the day. Steam likely will still be around, it is super popular. They also just started having game systems made for Steam itself. I think the Ouya is one of them, but I know the "Steambox" is.
Wow. That's a huge drop in population. Crazy how one of the biggest states is one of the most densely populated.
Really? Still doesn't make me wanna buy an Ouya then but sounds cool. To be honest though I kind of feel sorry for the guys that created it. Nothings being released on it anymore.
Twitch is a now gaming only (after people were posting nudes) livestreaming service. It's been under the spotlight for a couple of years now after companies broadcasted their E3 confrences with it. Google's probably gonna shove all their other products down it, poor Twitch.
If you hate Google use DuckDuckGo. It's a pain in the ass to set it to your default seasrch engine but it's worth it. After all it doesn't track your search history and sell it like Google does.
Fun fact about Alaska: Every time our tide goes out, we gain the landmass of Texas from just our low tide shores!
The fact that the Ouya might go out of business actually makes me want to buy it, surprisingly enough. That's pretty much the reason I picked up my Sega Dreamcast, because I found out Sega was going bankrupt.
Twitch sounds weird. Also I am always surprised to hear people trying to stop nudes from getting posted places. This is the Internet, probably 70% of the whole thing is nudity and creepy weirdness, haha.
I have never heard of DuckDuckGo, although I have used ixQuick for several (maybe 6+?) years, ever since it was first announced on Coast to Coast AM with George Noory. As for Google, it is the damned dirty devil, it is. I barely even get on Youtube (generally speaking) even anymore (would still post my own videos if I had some to post yet, though), since Google now owns it. Only reason I ever set up a Google+ account was to allow achievements in Tiny Death Star. It is, unfortunately, necessary if you want those darn things to unlock. ...and then I think none of them ever unlocked.
But the Ouya was never really prasied as a good console and has had a handful of solid games. At least the Dreamcast was good. Hang on a sec they went bankrupt over that? I thought they were on the verge of bankruptcy.
Haha good point. But a lot of kids go on Twitch to watch their favorite Youtubers live so maybe thats why but I doubt it.
Google's owned Youtube since 2005. But I guess youre right how theyve fucked it up even more every single year
Yeah, Texas is nothing. We Alaskans just wish they would realize it. :P
It's been a great number of years at this point but I recall the magazine I was reading saying actual bankruptcy. It's possible however the magazine didn't get it 100% correct though, either. My Internet is so terrible here (I often have to restart my Internet by physically yanking out and in my thumbdrive net usually 30 times to get a connection that lasts longer than literally 1-10 seconds) I won't even attempt looking it up.
Ah yes, that is entirely possible.
Yeah, I really haven't used Youtube for quite some time, but not THAT long. Before...crud, what was it called? CISPA? Google appeared to be one of the good guys. Immediately afterwards however they revealed their true colors.
Balloons? That sounds crazy! I wonder how that works...
I wish some other company would release a Google Glass item because I don't want to use Google, and it ought to look like a Dragon Ball scouter, anyways.
Oh man, the Wolfenstein levels in Doom II: Hell on Earth V1.666 (Wolfenstein and Grosse) were some of my favorite levels to play! I always have the urge to download the modernized version of the song from the Wolfenstein level... it really gets my blood pumpin'!
Man its been a while. I've been extremely busy unfortuneately thanks to school and stuff and comepletely forgot about this. I don't think i'll edit very much anymore if any, but now that I have some freetime I might do a little bit.
It's not gonna be like the regular SPIKE Video Game Awards with product placement and awkward celebrity cameos; instead it's gonna be in-depth and live streamed and not fully broadcasted on TV due to its 3 hour runtime
Possible Announcements Include:
2 new Square Enix games (Probably the new Tomb Raider,Hitman,Sleeping Dogs or Dues Ex)
An "upcoming" Wii U game (have no idea what this is could be a new IP and if so taht would be freaking awesome then again it might be Metroid
and some other stuff that I can't remember. Also maybe Fallout 4 too.
Fallout 4,Uncharted 4, and Mass Effect 4 were not revealed however
VGX Announcements: 1. Agents Of Storm: A new tower-defense title from Remedy for the iOS being released next month!! 2. Tomb Raider Definitive Edition: A re-created nextgen port of the Tomb Taider reboot also set to come out next month!! 3. Tales From The Borderlands:A new Telltale adventure comprised in the Borderlands Universe!! 4. Game Of Thrones: Another new Telltale game in Westoros!! 5. No Mans Sky: Lastly the biggest surprise of the evening was No Mans Sky a new space exploration game made by only 4 people!! Due to the size and the scope of the game I wouldn't be surprised if this comes out in 2016.
I copied this btw As you can see not that many big announcements. GTA V won GOTY and Gone Home won best PC and indie game. Naughty Dog won studio of the year.
Telltale's always been a good gaming company and sounds like No Man's Sky is right up my alley! I attempt to develop space exploration game(s) myself but I'm only one individual person, haha. Been actually trying to found my own Alaska-based game company. This state definitely needs one.
They didn't announce Mass Effect 4, though, eh? That's unfortunate—I'm a big fan of that particular series. Its multiplayer is my major reason for wanting to get Xbox LIVE back... I miss my Geth Hunter! XD
Never said I wasn't a fan of Metroid just would prefer a new IP from Nintendo cause that hasn't happened in ages. No hard feelings though.
About your game company: Seriously?! That's awesome dude! I've actually got some ideas for games (because I want to become a creative director in the future) but most of them are Triple A type of games, not indie things. Maybe I can come up with something though! Got one idea today but I don't think it's that good for a full-fledged game. Could be improved upon.
Since i'm not so busy anymore I'll try to come back on this wiki. I'm not gonna edit rapidly everyday like I used to but i'll probably manage a few edits in every week. Also hows it been going? Has the wiki been just you for the past couple of months because if that's true I'm deeply sorry. Also I was thinkingt of maing this wiki more modern so when I create multiple pages at a time one of them will be a seventh gen or eight gen game. Thanks!
Welcome back! It's been mostly just me that I've noticed; don't worry too terribly much though -- this is not even close to the only wiki where that happens on, hehe. I haven't been able to edit rapidly myself (all that real life stuff really tends to get in the way) but I've been on here every day though, doing something or other on here. More modern is cool; you still are wanting old school stuff on here though, yeah?
I'm going to try and work on adding enemies and bosses and characters and such in games that I happen to be currently playing, making it an easier choice on what to add each day.
We should still have the retro articles I want to appeal to lots of audiences so we can boost this wiki up. Also I added wiki rules on the main page about what pages you can\cannot create. I'll probably be on this wiki more because I deleted all the storage of off my Xbox because I'm selling it. Should get a PS4 in a couple of weeks. I wish I had the money to keep the Xbox but alas I'm not even 18 so I'm not applicable for a job. "sigh"
Arrighty, I can definitely do a lot with retro articles, that's for sure. I've been gaming a loooooong time. Sucks about the Xbox, it's still my favorite console... I got a PS4 as well, though. I'd say "let's co-op sometime!" but living in the middle of nowhere means I'd have to steal the Internet from the local laundromat with a tiny portable TV to even have any sort of chance of doing any of that. ¬_¬
In related news, I will go read those rules here once I'm not about to rush in to work just under the radar.
Sounds great! I'm still pissed about the Xbox because the PS4 doesn't have backwards compatibility which if you ask me is insanely dumb. If they release a new model soon that has it, i'll be pretty pissed.
Over the couple of weeks I've also started to amass a retro video game collection with finds from thrift stores and used book shops. Definitely would try it out and it's also super cheap (that is if you're stores price them well) I recently got Parappa The Rapper 2 for only four bucks. Hopefully if you stop at your Goodwill it won't be just old sports games. (Cause then i'll feel really bad.)
Yeah I didn't buy the PS3 because it had backwards compatibility and then didn't. I think it's a very important aspect of continual gaming. I still have my original model DS because the later iterations lost backwards compatibility.
Oh man, Parappa the Rapper! Those games were awesome haha. I still make references to Chop Chop Master Onion, lol.
My cousin has a PS3 she doesn't use anymore cause she's knee-deep in homework from high-school. I should check if her PS3 works for backwards compatibility but I doubt it since she got it in 2009. (At least I think so) I also managed to find Diablo 3 for $8 at a Goodwill. I'll probably resell it cause I don't really like that game. I like reselling parts of my small collection for other games. Also giving about twenty games and DVDs to my local retro store in exchange for Pokemon and an original Game Boy. (That should be fun)
Hey! I'm back! So a little update about pickups and such (hopefully you arent too busy to respond)
The retro store sadly only had a Game Boy Color but technically it was free with the credit I had. The only game I could get with any remaining credit was a crappy Simpsons game but it will do till I find some other actually fun game.
Finally got the PS4 aswell as Super Mario 3D World (actually had to save up for both of those) their both amazing but I think I actually like Mario better. I'll have to wait and see till Second Son comes out. Really hyped for that.
Well shit. This is embarassing. Sorry that I have not gotten ahold of you for so long it's just that my focus on my wiki has drifted away. I probably will try to continue it sometime in the future and it definitely had potential but I'm just too busy and hopefully someone takes the time to take care of it. Thanks and sorry.
Hey, no problem. I can understand business. I will do what I can on the wiki here, keep the bad vandals away and keep adding monsters and old games nobody seems to remember and the like. Hope to see you pop your head back on here again sometime. Until then, good luck with whatever goes on in your life!
Haha, yeah, maybe just a little bit. Then again, one of the most annoying kids I ever had the unfortunate luck to be in constant close contact with for a time was extremely obsessed with Fast & The Furious 1 when it came out. His other favorite movie of all time was 13 Ghosts, which was equally terrible, so I didn't trust his opinion on F&TF and didn't follow the series, lol. I've considered giving it a chance in more recent times in a similar manner to how I think I should give AKIRA a chance again, though I've been apprehensive specifically because of JUST HOW ANNOYING THAT KID WAS haha. It's like when I stopped watching Ranma ½ specifically because one of my school group friends wouldn't shut up about it for a few years. I am ALL about the Pacific Rim game, though. And the movie, while I'm talking about it.
Sorry about the disappearing for the past few days, I accidentally used my entire bandwidth at home and haven't had the opportunity to get online at work. The monitor system for how much bandwidth has been used is not correct, and goes into "sleep mode" and stops counting up, indicating that you are not using any bandwidth anymore, so I went to bed with it on once or twice. It was completely false and used everything I had available. My home bandwidth ought to be back up on June 1st.
It's fine if you've dissapeared for a little while but not for too long. I have been extremely busy too but for some reason have time for this. Fast & Furious:Showdown was made by Activision so I'm not suprised but I'm the same guy who did not burn their copy of Star Trek. (I rented it. I had an urge, but I resisted it)
Haha, I hear ya. Man, I can't remember the last time I rented a video game, back in the Blockbuster days when renting games was the big thing. Actually, it was the year the Nintendo Virtual Boy came out. I just double checked, and that was 1995. That means I last rented a game when I had recently came into ownership of a Super Nintendo (really my first console I ever owned, since the NES was "shared" between me and my cousins, but stayed at my cousins' house). Jeez, that's forever ago! @_@
I would normally have time for wikia work as my first and foremost activity, but my home bandwidth got used up so it can take like 5 hours to MAYBE load one page. It's terrible. -_- Makes me almost wishing June 1st would come around so I can check the net at home again, but then I remember I don't want to be another year older.
Are you kidding? Five Hours? Well it's two days around the corner so your pain will stop soon.
About the renting thing: There's a BlockBuster about five miles from my house, but the owners are dicks and say they have a movie and they don't. It kind of sucks. I wish you could still rent consoles. I know a few places in Canada do it though.
Haha, yeah, five whole hours when my bandwidth is down. It's far, FAR worse than 56k, especially considering I only do wiki work, really. The first page loads PERFECTLY and fast, but after that it's all snail's pace.
It's totally cool now and running fine at home, but I am still drivint to work and using it here cuz there's a girl I like who stops in around a certain time when she gets off work. That's a good reason to still use work Internet, right? lol...
I'm still very much shocked to know that Blockbusters are still in business in this day in age. Though that doesn't mean I don't want them around (and I tried to apply to one in Anchorage with my best friend before ending up here in Healy).
And Canada is totally a great place to be. Let's all move to Edmonton and rent games and hang out in the Edmonton Mall all day.
PS: It's my birthday! WOO! OK, I'm not that excited about it. I really ought to find a game to play in celebration, though... since I generally refer to birthdays as "Emergence Days", maybe I should pull out Gears of War and play through that again..?
Nice! How old are you? Never heard of Edmonton but looked it up and it sounds amazing. Injustice would be a fine title to get but it's new so it would cost a lot. Batman:Arkham City would be a fine way to celebrate. It's funny because I only got that game because my parents congratulated me on getting an 100% on a hard english test. (I guessed every question) LOL
Haha, well.. I'm fairly old. Let's just say I was raised on the 3rd and 4th Generation consoles. Haha, nice reason to get a game -- I was always actually really good at tests, without ever needing to study. It was just what I excelled at. Unfortunately, I wasn't greatat homework since I think in a sort of roundabout way that the schools were not OK with. So, in other words, even when I would get the right answers in, say, mathematics, I would still get 0s because I didn't do the work in the way they wanted it done. I did it in a manner that took up half of the page per problem.
That sucks. I was having a really really good day today due to me getting good grades, but I really feel that everytime I go to this school it just broaden's the stereotype of snobby rich kids more. Let's just say one of them bullied me severly and they thought they could not get in trouble due to that school ends in four days.
On the flipside in the summer I can do Wikia more and actually be more athletically active because my parents are complaining about that.
E3: Have you heard the E3 news? My favorite trailer was either Dying Light or Sundown Overdrive. You should totally check them out.
Dying Light is made by the same people who made Dead Island but the trailer is amazing so I am excited. Also remember when I had said I was anticipating Remember Me? Well that was flushed down the toilet after the M rating and mixed critic reviews.
Have you heard about Murdered:Soul Suspect? It's a game where you have to solve your own murder made by Square Enix. Now that is original.
I loved Dead Rising's original video; I just wish the game was as epic. I didn't personally play it but I watched it get played for a few hours once, and it seemed pretty cool but not exactly epic. That's unfortunate that you won't get to play Remember Me.
Murdered: Soul Suspect sounds like the plot to I Know Who Killed Me, lol...of course, I never saw that movie so maybe I really don't know what that movie is actually about. Are any of these coming out for the PS4? I unfortunately have been forced to switch back to Sony because of all the horrid issues with the 720. Heck, just the fact that it needs to be online every 24 hours or the system shuts down means I will never get to play it.
Haha, ahhhh... Lindsay Lohan knows who I am, actually. She used to go to clubs my best friend (a semi-famous DJ) was frequenting when he was in, I dunno, LA or somewhere and he always talked about me and she thought I sounded amazing. She was SUPPOSED to come up and star in one of my really terrible B movies, credited as "Bindsay Bohan" and we were going to always deny hands down it was Lohan. She was intended to fly up alongside Scott (that DJ friend o' mine) after his tour down in the states a few years ago, but when Scott flew up here, we were both surprised she didn't show up. We soon figured out why: she went to rehab. True story!
Wait, what's going on with Amanda Bynes? I ignore all newspapers and news channels and celebrity gossip sites/tabloids so only learn it from word-of-mouth.
Well cool, looks like I can get Murdered: Soul Suspect (360 will always remain my favorite system of all time) and Dying Light, at least. But what's horrid about Remember Me? With only 10 gigs of bandwidth shared between two people, I don't get to watch videos very often; I kind of have to pick and choose my vids to watch, and usually they're dedicated to songs to draw to that I haven't found mp3s for yet. NOT THAT I AM A PIRATE, WIELDERS OF THE HANDCUFFS! I, uh, totally only get ?freeware? MP3s. 'Natch.
Amanda Bynes was arrested for smoking pot and then she did all this other bad stuff. I've heard she posted a nude photo of herself on Twitter when she was high and then said she did not take drugs. I don't pay attention to it but I've heard about it countless times on covers of celebrity gossip magazines that I see when I go to the dentist.
Did a little bit of research and sounds like it's all true. Apparently the image in question was accidental nudity and she reuploaded it with a photoshopped blur a few minutes later. I'm really not usually in celebrity lives, except those few I happen to have encountered in my life.
Repetitiveness can really kill gameplay for me, so that's unfortunate. Heck, ever since my old friend Jeff was curious about "what hitting BOTH buttons at the same tiem on the PlayStation 1 multi-page memory card did" and wiped all my saves like a jackgrass (which included ALL of my major RPG saves, all at the end of the game -- Final Fantasy VII, Breath of Fire III, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, etc -- plus a looooong ways into Final Fantasy Tactics) I have found myself unable to get past roughly 10 hours in awesome RPGs such as Final Fantasy, because the combat just gets too repetitive for me now. Sucks. Probably a big reason I eventually switched over to FPSes.
The Last of Us also sounds incredible. Too bad I don't own a PlayStation 3...
Ooo, ouch! What happened?? And no worries on the wiki death front—I'm still just warming up before the real serious posting begins, so I have far too much to contribute here to disappear. Heck, I haven't even finished up all the characters, enemies, levels, items and weapons from one game yet, let alone the hundreds I've played in my lifetime! =P
It's fine if you have not edited a lot, I was just a little worried. What happened is that I can't move my neck right or left (and up or down) or it hurts like hell. It's gotten better and I think I've had the proper time to heal. It happened while tripping and not landing in the best position. Also I ordered Mirrors Edge off of Amazon and well I am really anticipating it.
Oh man, that sucks. Tripping, you say it was? Since your mentioning of Mirror's Edge, it makes me wonder if you may have been attempting parkour at the time, hehe. I was into what later came to be known as parkour during my youth, though it was entirely natural since we didn't have Internet or anything and I just wanted to do it on my own, with no knowledge of any other individuals having the desire to do so. Let me know what you think of Mirror's Edge, because I really wanted to buy it when it came out but didn't because it was at the beginning of my "Preorder games or never buy them because you missed out on cool stuff" phase.
In terms of terrible pain, I occasionally wake up where my sternum is in such severe pain that I can't lift my head even any more than an inch off my pillow, let alone the rest of my body. My only solution to that problem is to immediately go back to sleep and hope when I wake up again in 8 or so hours that the pain will have dissipated, which it usually does.
My opinion on Mirrors Edge. This will be a probably very long read by the way. When I originally got it I thought it was worth the wait. Though the levels do start to get way harder with a tremendous difficulty curve and you cant walk an inch with everybody wanting your head on a silver platter. However the moments when you are running around freely with no distractions are the meat of the game but those are too far and few between. The combat is god-awful and the only way I could kill enimies with out nearly dying was dick punches. I do give props to how the game looks and the feeling of the guns compared to COD. It feels very realistic and is the only game I have played where I feel like a real person. I would buy the sequel when it comes out because that seems more fleshed out than this but if you want a better backstory get it.
Sounds unfortunate that you don't get to spend more time enjoying the beauty of it all. Isn't the sequel supposed to be coming out soon or something? I've been so out of the loop for so long, chances are it came out like 4 years ago and I never heard, haha.
I thought the game was good don't worry about that. Just was pissed that I had a 2 week wait for it only to finish it within three days. And yes the sequel is supposed to be open world. Too bad my Xbox Live is not working so I can't buy the DLC. That looks awesome.
Haha, well remember that I've already been without Xbox LIVE for 7 months... and that all of my friends are fierce jagoffs who refuse to let me use their connection to download something so I can play my games, even though they KNOW that was the entire reason I just drove five hours (one way!) to visit them.
I just came out of Pacific Rim. Have you seen it? Do you see movies often? I usually do and this was pretty good. Now I have to stay up all night doing my blog. Was supposed to do five posts but procrastinated. This is feeling like college.
I love movies, but unfortunately I now live 110 miles from the closest city with an theatre auditorium, and the closest place to buy DVDs. I also only 20 gigs a month of bandwidth, so cannot download movies through NetFlix or something. I've gone from "watch every movie that comes out in the $3 theatre AND some specific cool movies in full price theatres" to "never going to see another movie I don't buy from Wal*Mart every few months until at least the end of summer OR possibly forever (or until my 2 year Internet contract ends)". I even missed Jurassic Park in theatres for the SECOND time. I cannot believe I will never get to see it in an auditorium... But I digress: Pacific Rim is one of those movies I would have liked to have seen.
It was pretty good. It did feel like it was too long though. There was one really funny part where the Jaeger's arm went through a building and touched the edge of a cubicle desk. It caused these things http://www.lhup.edu/~dsimanek/scenario/collision-r.jpg to bounce. I don't know if they have a specific name but I found an image of it.
When does your contract end? Some shitty wireless carrier if you ask me.
Been awhile since you last responded. Not trying to butcher you or anything lol. I think if I remember correctly it was Sexual Themes,Suggestive Themes,Language and maybe even nudity.
Lemme talk about my gaming lately if that's fine.
I got Pikmin 3 on launch day and I have been playing it every day I can., It's weird because I imagined I would not really like it since I had never played a Pikmin game before but it's so addictive and I feel like it's my duty to kill those Pikmin. I mean use them as an army. They usually die anyway so whatever. I also got Lost Planet which I played two missions of and got tired of. I found it pretty generic but it was only $3 at Gamestop suprisingly. The mech boss was fun though.
Yeah that's true. I've never ever used Amazon myself (heck only recently realized it was for more than just books now, lol); I've always gone to Gamestop and more recently Best Buy if they have cooler preorder items.
Man I love my Gamestop. The people who work their love their job. But I know that is a rare experience. I have seen people complain at Gamestop for having employees who know nothing about video games. I guess I'm just lucky. And if the PS4 does not have used games. Gamestop will die. Including mine. I will be so pissed at Sony.
I was actually in a World of Warcraft guild with my frequented Gamestop; unfortunately they all quit suddenly and left me high and dry and started apparently not knowing who I was (despite the fact that they knew beforehand and had gone to face-to-face guild meetings and was actually one of the most widely seen members of the guild). It was a really weird situation. Now I just act like I don't know any of them personally, either. Which I guess is good, because I owe one of the them some money for choosing to buy me WoW time cards when I was flat broke, haha.
Why wouldn't the PS4 have used games? Trying to make it illegal to sell them that way or just utilize direct downloads?
The PS4 will not have used games to prevent piracy. It's just rumour's but if true, that is bull. i want a physical copy of my game, not a downloadable one. Except if it's Battleblock Theater. That game is freaking amazing.
Another one I've not heard of, although as I mentioned before I don't even own a PlayStation 3 yet, lol. But yech, I like my physical game collection on a shelf, thank you very much. I mean, the vast majority of it being physical copies. And I pretty much ONLY buy used games (or reserve them) so it'd pretty much kill their sales to me, especially since I can't hook up my systems to the net where I currently live (like, literally at all).
I can't support that, Xbox -- unless I somehow eventually move back to a real town I won't have access to Xbox LIVE again, which would mean no new games for me, like, ever.
Nice! I wish I had actually gotten a chance to play that series. I reserved Arkham Asylum and I have the LE batarang set, but by the time I had an opportunity to play it I was moving to Minnesota and the airlines wouldn't let me take my Xbox and games with me at all. When I came back it was locked up in some storage locker somewhere and I still haven't located it, so didn't play the sequel when it came out either since I wanted to play them in order. Doesn't mean I can't reserve this one too and set it aside for a thousand years until I find my Arkham Asylum, though...lol.
And that means, since I haven't played Urban Chaos either (or I think even heard about it until recently), I really have no way of knowing whether Rocksteady's removal means the game will suck. But they did help with Arkham City, so here's hoping it isn't god-awful. Comics really need some more great games based on them. If I see one more Superman 64, I swear to the New Gods themselves...
Dang, I find cheesy final bosses kind of a let down. Usually a big let down but sometimes only a minor one, depending on the game. What's worse is when they're simply EXTREMELY CHEAP, like they're cheating. For instance, the final boss for Dead or Alive 3. He cheated to give you a false "challenge". Ugh.
Now that I have a regular flow of income again, I'll definitely see about picking up Arkham City when I'm in town tomorrow, then. And if I'm lucky (see: have enough money in my wallet at the time I go into the store), the new Gears of War.
I only got to check on one Gamestop and only for a few minutes. I didn't see any copies of Arkham City (LEGO Batman was the closest this one had lol); I didn't see Tomb Raider nor Bioshock 3 but they may have been in there and I just overlooked them, since I was rushed. I did find GoW: Judgment so I picked that up, and made sure to pick up Alice: Madness Returns since I was a huge fan of the original game. I'll be back down there in a month and will have way more money and time, though.
Oh also have you heard of wordament? It's a free word game available on your smartphone and it will actually give you gamerscore on your Xbox. If you play the PC and iOS versions, thats an easy 100 gamerscore.
Yeah, that's entirely possible. I did find out though that that specific Gamestop actually will mail games to you instead of you needing to pick them up for a $5 fee (because of all of the people who live in The Bush, aka in the wilderness hundreds of miles from a real city). That means I never have to really go outside again! Hooray sorta! lol. Playing GoW Judgment myself at the moment, it's pretty cool so far. Short levels but hoping it makes up for that in quantity.
Well, the thing is is that the Internet we have here is on a thumb drive, which you need to open and physically click a little square-shaped program that installs to get it to activate, as opposed to going in normally to where you have the status bars and connecting from there (it will not connect if you try that normal method at all), so it is extremely unlikely to work with the Xbox. The neighbor has a connection but there's so much distance between the houses that the conn is terrible, and it'd probably take like 10 minutes just to load a Mass Effect 3 multiplayer map. There's free wifi at the restaurant and at my work, but I don't think I can drag everything down to the restaurant (they'd probably frown about me bringing a TV in there lol). Work, though... if I'm ever off for a day and go to do laundry, there's a television downstairs in the laundromat that I might be able to hook up to. Maybe I'll try that...
I, personally, like Judgment. The levels are pretty short, which kind of sucks, but it seems to be making up for it in quantity. I've only ever found 1 COG tag per level (can't recall if there's ever been more than 1 per) and there's 48 in the campaign, which would indicate 48 levels — that's PRETTY close to what Earth Defense Force 2017 had, which was a super simplistic game but had a massive number of levels and is one of my personal favorites). I personally know there's over 32 levels in the game as that's how many I beat last night. They have this function called Declassify that is on the wall at the beginning of every level or right before the action will start up, which allows you, by accepting the conditions, take handicaps for the level to unlock how the story is supposed to take place (like how in one level the wind is super high level and affects movement and shots, as well as visibility to some extent, and in another one you have to either slaughter all the Serapede egg pods or presumably get swarmed my large amounts of the creatures; there are also timed Declassify missions, where you have to reach the exit or kill all of the enemies in a set period of time, usually 4 minutes). Each chapter they have you playing as a different character with the other 3 main characters helping you out, but they all seem to play roughly the same. I plan on beating it tonight here.
Oh man. I've been a gamer essentially my entire life. I got hooked when I played Zelda 1 when I was 6 (I had played Mario and Duck Hunt before then but would still rather go outside and play before Zelda caught me). I've owned systems and computers since junior high school. While I absolutely must focus on a game all the way through in order to complete it (else I get distracted by another one), I have completed maybe a few hundred games in my lifetime. I should really make a list sometime... I've played and beaten games from the NES all the way to the 360 and Wii. Oh, and some arcade games when Chuck E. Cheese's was the absolute best place to be.
I actually had to move here because it was the only place that was willing to actually hire me. Couldn't get a job in my own hometown, eventually ran out of money after around a year or so, had to move in with my ex and her boyfriend and their kid(s)... it was really a cruddy and cliched situation. Well, maybe not cliched... but it should be a cliche. Spent a lot of time hiding out in my room playing video games but the boyfriend would relatively often burst into my room (no locks) drunk and want to wrestle. The living room TV was right up against the same thin wall I slept against and they cranked it to a volume of 50, too. Good thing I have an expensive pair of Bose headphones and some thunderclaps on repeat I can play or I would never have slept. I'd also have Yo Gabba Gabba whateverhappensonthatshow stuck in my head probably permanently by now.
Yeah, it's beautiful here, which is a plus. It is hard to sleep 2 of the 7 days though because there's an older male here who is as loud as a bullhorn because he's going deaf. His schedule also conflicts with my own. Have to run a fan next to my head on full blast to drown him and his Volume 50 TV and it doesn't always work, ha.
I'm kind of getting used to only 3 or 4 hours of sleep a night. Then again, I've also been downing medium-strength coffee like the Dickens. It frightens me to wonder what it'd be like if I downed a cup of the strong stuff at work instead, lol...
Do you still have those Bose headphones to block the old man? That would be a solution.
About sleep. I feel most of the time when I am tired and sit on my bed and should go to sleep I just sit there. I know that when I go to sleep I am just going to wake up immediatly and there is nothing to it.
Oh yes, I certainly still have them, but he's THAT loud that I can still hear him through them unless I loop thunder claps all night through them. I also toss and turn at night so I'm always afraid I'm going to break them in my sleep somehow.
With me, I'm a bit of an insomniac. I need to wait until I actually feel the right kind of tired, then go to bed — if I go where my brain isn't exhausted then it immediately turns on full blast and ravages me with, usually, the same single line from a random song, rapidly repeating, for up to ten hours. My brain becomes so active fighting trying to sleep that I actually cannot sleep at all because of it. It really sucks.
Do sleeping pills work? I have had sleeping problems before because of my allergies. Might be because you have some allergies but again I do not think there is a lot of pollen in Alaska. Majority of it is in California.
I haven't taken any sleeping pills before outside of melatonin about 10 years ago. I am allergic to pollen but this is an entirely year-round aspect, and ~seven months of the year we're covered in snow.
Never heard of it (though I don't regularly watch television so don't see commercials for stuff); I'll have to see if we have it around town here. I -know- we have that new 5 Hour Sleep at my work though I haven't tried that either. If I can't find that ZZquil though I'll see about grabbing one as I head out the door sometime.
I just realized something. If you had Internet connection we could join and be friends on Xbox Live. If you do not want to do it, fine that's OK I just want you to feel better because you say that you have very little friends. I want to change that.
If this sounds stalkerish I'm sorry I just want to make you feel better
Haha, nah it doesn't sound stalkerish. If I can get my LIVE working I'll definitely let you know so I can add you. I know my username on there is Somarinoa though I don't know if the message will still show up for me for a friend request if it takes me 30 days to get LIVE working or longer. I guess you could always just send a request every month? lol... or just give me your username and I'll write it down so that when I get LIVE working again I can just send you a request myself.
lol man I LOVE the Portal series. But I agree, all the games I played Co-Op I preferred co-op (though I'm normally a natural loner in MMOs; good at making friends and helping others out but usually am off doing my own thing). I loved Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, where it's all co-op instead of deathmatch. That was a great idea, I thought... however I got so good at it with my Geth Infiltrator with my Geth Submachine Gun that people started disliking me. Not even meaning to I'd tend to get 75 kills per match on non-gold difficulty (and was usually the only one remaining alive through gold difficulty, though I couldn't win it alone since I was busy trying to keep everyone revived). I think 75 kills is like half the level's enemies haha.
While I am happy that Borderlands 2 is selling strong I kinda dislike Gearbox after the reception of Aliens:Colonial Marines. I have heard rumours that they made the game in three months in order to get Borderlands 2 out and that is just unacceptable.
I'm really bummed that everyone says that game is bad. It will probably be mid-April by the time I get to play it, but I'm hoping I like it better than most people have so far, being such a massive fan to the movies. I'm personally pretty annoyed with Capcom, myself.
You know, I've only played a little bit of Bully (didn't own it, only had one night to enjoy it) and none of Alan Wake, myself. I was playing a lot of Mega Man Zero lately, and am up to Zero 4, but kinda been distracted with 6 Seasons of Dexter, since I've never seen that show and people were starting to ruin things for me, lol. But hey, I hit Season 4 tonight so I'm already over halfway to gaming again, haha.
It was pretty open world; I can't remember if I could leave the campus or not but I definitely know I could wander the campus all I liked. It was University Edition or whatever it's called, that much I know. Honestly, I should really buy it when I'm back in town since they still sell new copies here in my state. Only reason I didn't is because I get SUPER addicted to Rockstar Games, where I won't do anything else for like 7 months straight, hehe.
It's funny becuase I was playing Bully and I had like three glitches in a road. They were Walking Dead style glitches with things floating, repeating screens, and the whole screen turning green for a minute. I thought i hard to hard reset my Xbox
Haha neat, I love some of them Rockstar glitches. I was really all about the flying ghost cars in GTA3 and the rolling ghost cars in San Andreas. But boy, that would have sucked if you had to hard reset — I've had to do that a number of times in various games (probably more to do with my console than the games since it just occasionally freezes — not often, but still often enough to be aggravating).
I remember when I used to play World of Warcraft on an older laptop that could barely support it. After about an hour it would seemingly crash, and would leave me with a black screen for 1-2 minutes before coming back on in a form I liked to refer to as "Glitchworld". In this form all of the skins were misplaced, so I would often get trees made out of human skin, plains made of lava, rabbits with orc skins, etc. The most disorienting thing would be that my bag inventory was now THE SKY. I had to look up into the air to view and select stuff in it.
To be honest, I have always missed that "version" of the game.
Oh My God that's amazing! I never have expierienced a glitch like except in Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition. When you have really bad connection with the other player the funniest things will happen. Getting stuck in walls is nearly my favorite but the best has to be walking in air.
Haha yeah Glitchworld of Warcraft was seriously amazing...except it was difficult to deal with PVP sometimes when both the world and the enemy characters were made out of cobblestone, making them virtually chameleons haha.
I've really been meaning to pick up and play Minecraft one of these days; I still haven't though. Is it as amazing as everyone always claim? I had a group of friends on a private server who dug out a mountain and filled it to the brim with TNT, and then set it off. It crashed every last one of their computers. Even when they restarted they couldn't get on the server for another hour or so as the explosions were still going off and so massive that it still had the server crashed, lol. Guess it blew away half the mountain.
Well, I'm definitely pretty obsessed with my achievements. I remember spending 3 months on a single achievement from The Maw, where you had to play 6 times in one day — at "breakfast, brunch, lunch, dunch, dinner, and midnight feast". Beating the game every day, six times a day, when I had already beaten it and it was a simple Xbox Arcade game. That's beating the game...jeez, roughly 540 times? That actually means I've beaten it more times than I beat Super Metroid in high school (~500 times). O.o
Hell ya that counts. I remember seeing an achievement in the game Limbo where you had to complete the game with five or less deaths and in one sitting. It only was 10 gamerscore. Im not gonna do the achievement if there's nothing to it.
I'm what I like to call an achievement whore, but yeah, screw that Limbo achievement, hahaha. I'd sooner play a Barbie game rented from Red Box or Blockbuster for an easy 4-hour 1000 points (I've never actually done that but I've been tempted, JUST to finally beat my friend's gamerscore lol).
The only games I am absolutely obsessed with getting 100% achievements on are the Silent Hill games, since those are the only ones I've succeeded in getting 100% in (in both Homecoming and Downpour, but not HD collection yet).
Hey, do you know if they announced whether or not the 720 is going to keep 360 gamerscore tally? I'd really hate to start over again...
No they have not. Anyway, You still have a Blockbuster in your nieghboorhood? I envy you. Also have you seen the leaked Metal Gear Solid 5 gameplay demo? I have never played any Metal Gear Solid games and just might get a PSVita if I can play Peace Walker on that, but holy crap that was gripping.
Well, here's to hoping they allow merging of scores. We do in fact have a couple Blockbusters, though I'm entirely uncertain how they've stayed in business all this time, haha... then again, this is Alaska and we're like a decade behind everyone else it seems sometimes.
I have not seen any gameplay for MGS5, actually. I personally played Metal Gear on the NES (wasn't good at it) and Metal Gear Solid (wasn't great at it, but Saiko Mantis was the coolest boss, probably EVER). And I think I watched...was it Snake Eater? at a friend's. Always respected the series, though. I wouldn't mind seeing something on it, definitely.
Haha, I can believe it. Definitely don't skip Saiko Mantis cutscenes though. They're some of the most trippy cutscenes in any video game ever (only beaten I would say by pretty much the entirety of Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem).
Thank heavens, because after 7 years I just don't get anything out of World of Warcraft anymore, and I love my games to be entire worlds to explore like MMOs. But man, that still absolutely ticks me off. I'd rather have Disney go under than LucasArts any day of the week. I guess I'll never see my dream sequels to either Full Throttle or Grim Fandango. :/
I hear that Star Wars Episode 7 was supposed to involve resurrecting Vader or something? Any idea of that's true?
Well, I love DV and he was amazing in the Force Unleashed games, but I am a firm believer that when you kill off a character, DO NOT BRING THEM BACK. It's why that one Star Trek movie, the one with the most man feels at the end, is complete worthless trite to me because, OH, MAJOR CHARACTER DIED. TIME TO BRING HIM BACK NEXT MOVIE. No. Let him stay dead, as much as I like the character. It makes the moment mean so much more. Actually, I cannot think of a big "major character dies!" moment in Star Trek where they didn't make it cheap by either having it be an alternate version of the character or have a copy of the character lying around or simply resurrecting him on some magical planet. It's... it's bad writing, I guess is what I'm saying. No one beyond 6th grade should probably be writing those sorts of crummy plots.
This is the first I've heard of this "Purge". I might have to go look it up, considering I'm into scary stuff (BIG Silent Hill fan, formerly BIG Resident Evil fan -- aka of the old RE games -- fan of Eternal Darkness & DooM, fan of the demo of F.E.A.R. though I never bought the series, fan of Dead Space... okay, I'm done listing because I'll just go on and on... not a big fan of Clock Tower, Siren or Slender, though).
Disney will probably ressurect Vader because I can not think of any other possible idea for a new plot. On the other hand, remember when Disney used to be good? Pixar was at the height of their game and then Cars 2 came out and pretty much screwed everything over.
The Purge is about a new America where crime is at an all time low, and employment is at 1%. All because for 12 hours each year, every crime is legal. It's a pretty scary idea, I've stayed up countless nights just thinking if that would work.
There were old books that followed the two children of Han and Leia, whom the original third trilogy was considered to be made for. However in my opinion those books were kind of terrible. Maybe I missed the good ones, though. Also in the expanded universe the Emperor returns in a clone body, but Vader never does; with that in mind it could follow Luke, though if Mark Hamill didn't play him I would be highly upset (he'd just have to be obviously way older and a Jedi Master by that time). They also have the Yuuzhan Vong War to cover. And heck, every single Star Wars story has its own Darth Sidious and Darth Vader and don't actually use much imagination (Darths Revan and Malak, Darths Vindican and Malgus, etc), so they could easily just make another Vader copycat character.
That sounds interesting, though, Purge. I wonder if we'd all become monsters for a day in a world like that..? Not sure I would, even to, say, steal a stockpile of awesome food or something. I'd rather bunker in and stay safe from the looters and raiders, I think. Not risk my own personal safety for some free food, lol.
The thing about the new Star Wars sequels is that Disney knows everyone is pissed about it but they are still going to do it anyway and people are still going to see it. I really wish that people were more original these days especially for movies but you know movies have been going on for nearly one hundred years so I am not suprised. Most companies strategies these days are slap a sequel onto everything. Hell only a few good movies have come out so far this year. But maybe all the good movies will come at the end of the year like 2012.
Well, they do say that there are only something like 7 different ideas in all forms of storytelling media which have been repeated over and over for centuries (as in, every last piece of storytelling falls into one of those 7 categories). I don't mind sequels too terribly much (I mean, I grew up on the Mega Man and Legend of Zelda series, so I'm accustomed to 50 sequels lol) but what I really hate is when they don't put any damn effort into the games. We've waited 2+ years for this, man — make it worth the wait! Even Blizzard seems to be losing track of this, which sucks because they were the company best known for quality products despite them taking forever to get released.
Also yeah, Disney are a bunch of jerks. Just like EA, really.
As for 2012 movies I didn't get to see any of them, myself, darnit. Because there's another guy in town with the same first and last name as me and it's a pretty unlikely name jobs looking to hire me will see it and think I'm some sort of a horrible person, so I was "unemployable" for a year. It was really frustrating; couldn't go see movies, couldn't buy many new games, couldn't do anything fun because I had to ration my money towards rent and my 1 packet of ramen a day. -_- But I have a job now finally, which is pretty lax and I get $10 an hour (less than I was making at my last job but also lots of downtime and a relaxed atmosphere so still worth it since it's $90 a day), so it's back into the fun fray for me! ...finally.
WOW. That's sad. I can't believe that that happened to you. Is your life better now? I'm a pessimist after I got bullied so much I had to switch schools and all this crap happened. I don't have the most amazing life but at least it is an improvement.
I suppose it depends on how you look at it. I had to move 250 miles away from home for this job which means I pretty much won't be seeing my friends anymore, and I really don't make hang out level friends very easily or very fast. There's also no real easy way to connect to Xbox LIVE here, so there's a lot of stuff I would like to do here but can't. I can definitely afford to eat, though now, although there's only one restaurant in town and I'm more likely to still just eat one real meal a day and then head to bed or sacrifice feeding time for game or net time (since I don't have too much of it outside of weekends, as with most people). But, I'm making money, so hey, there's that. There also really aren't any females here that aren't either 14 or 40. OK, there's one cute girl I've seen here but I'm pretty sure she's dating my boss, so, ehhh no.
I've been a pessimist most of my life, though with significantly more childish origins. I used to ask my mother if we could go places and she would say "Sure, a little later though." and the like, and then would never take me there, like she assumed I forgot about having asked. So I came to the then-logical conclusion that if I never expected good I wouldn't get let down and therefore I would always be happy (← an obvious flaw in my 9yo thinking, haha).
Well at least you are better than you used to be. Was your childhood better than your adulthood? My teenage years have been horrific.
6th Grade was perfect for me and then 7th Grade happened. I did Wikia becuase I always had wanted to do it when I was 13. I have so much drama at school. (Like high school drama) I moved to some school where every person is rich and I'm middle class. But at least I'm OK. I'm not super depressed like I used to be.
Prepare for GREAT WALL OF TEXT... because I really don't know how to NOT produce a wall like this (which is why I will never have a Twitter feed lol):
I wouldn't say either was all that fantastic for me. I moved around a lot (rarely stayed in a school for a full year until junior high) and was a small, awkward kid so didn't ever have any real friends. Finally met a person I felt close with in 3rd grade, but moved away half-way through the year. Was picked on severely as a child. Eventually was reunited with them at the beginning of junior high, but half-way through a far newer friend "said something" to them (never did find out what) and the person never spoke to me again. I spent the rest of my school years trying to "win them back", only the few times I came face to face with them I clammed up and never said anything. Was picked on a lot after that friend and I had that falling out in junior high but that eventually stopped once a friend of mine committed suicide who also knew the head of security, so she started watching out for me.
I got picked on in high school as well, but that eventually slowed to a serious crawl after Columbine because I was a trenchcoat wearer and had my group of friends starting to follow suit just because I looked good in a trench they thought, and much of the school started referring to us as "The Alaskan Trenchcoat Mafia". A lot of people thought I was a severe stoner because of my grogginess from it being early morning and from showers making my eyes red, which made the stoner clique eventually "worship" me on occasion ala Wayne's World. Many other kids thought I was a 35-year-old staff member because I had biker hair so looked way older than I was, I guess. I had friends of mixed cliques including football team and the wannabe gangsters and the dude who called in the bomb threats, but it didn't officially increase my popularity. I had the first real group of friends I'd had during this period, which is also the same group of friends I have now, plus and minus a few extras. However, despite that a lot of girls seemed to hit on me or flirt with me over the 3 years I went, I didn't have the know-how or smoothness to follow through with that and did not get myself a girlfriend, and then I was out of school early and then, an adult.
As an adult I immediately chose to "take a year off, because going to school sucks", which ultimately led me to never succeed in getting enrolled in a video game making school, unlike that cousin I talked about before (we're only 30 days apart in age so we were graduating at the same general time). A friend of mine accidentally left me on his sister's contact list when he got on hers because he forgot his own password and wasn't at his default home (his parents had split 6 months earlier), which led to me getting a girlfriend finally. However, she cheated on me within 2 weeks with my then-best friend, in my bed, while I was also resting in it. Ironically, that led me to become completely tight-lipped about my relationships to any friends or really anyone at all (because me having told my best friend I had a girlfriend finally because I was excited about it is how he met her), which would eventually destroy my 2nd relationship. 2nd relationship lasted a few years but she also cheated on me within a month with a close friend, and again later on with my new best friend. Needless to say, I'm generally quite wary over my best friends these days. Not considered particularly interesting to females, and while I do enjoy alone time probably better than the next person, it still is a relatively lonely life. Those few girls who show interest in me are either A) Underage or B) Completely Batdookie Crazy and really not my type in any fashion.
Within a few months I'll have reached an age where it's considered pathetic to continue to act childish and where everyone's supposed to have grown up and had children and careers by then, and I've yet to really accomplish anything fantastic. Outside of killing something like a quarter of a million giant insects in the EDF games, of course. And saving quite a few worlds several times.
Personally, I actually yearn for the high school days again.
I want to be when I was ten again personally. There were really no giant problems and I was not getting bullied. I remember me and my friend Jackson (Who I get in touch with any more) would have a creative film class and then I would got to his house and watch Adventure Time and play Happy Wheels. I'm scared to play Happy Wheels at my house because my parents saw my brother play it and got super pissed at me, so I guess I'll never have something like that again.
I don't want to go to a video game-making school because personally I do not want the stress. I saw Indie Game:The Movie with my dad and he hates games but man was he interested. If these guys fail, their life is over. I always feel sorry when an indie game gets a bad score because then their screwed.
True, but unfortunately for me there is literally nothing else that actually interests me enough to spend my entire life devoted to it. I would prefer to work for a "real company" like Toys For Bob or Crystal Dynamics, those sorts (preferably a company not under the thumb of EA, however), but then I know for a fact none of my personal game ideas (of which there is a plethora of) would ever see the light of day.
Man, I don't even think Adventure Time came out until I was an adult...haha, I feel so old. As for Happy Wheels, I've heard of it once or twice before but never got to play it; my last probably 4 computers haven't been able to handle Internet apps very well at all. Can't even log in to one of the (presumably still many) oekakis.
It doesn't really seem to be the computer specs. It's just that my computers can't handle flash or java-based programs. They'll typically just never load. I'd say it has more to do with the fact that I kill my computer's fans within 2 months of getting it and the rest of the time it's simply overheating. I seriously run my computers straight into the ground. >.>
My PC can run flash games but I rather prefer console. Oh yah, Injustice came out and I got it. If you want it you should get it, but the plot is crap and the single player is a little but short and if you dont have a friend you can not play co-op. So I probably would not get it considering you do not have any online capabilities but they do have challenges and stuff but I would not go into the single player twice.
Yeah, I not only have no access to XboxLIVE but I also don't have any friends up here yet. Oh, AND my mom just broke our Internet at home this afternoon so I'm stuck having to use the net here at work in my off-hours when the building is closed down. -_-
I brought my Xbox down here to the laundromat portion to try and hook it up and see if it works but it seems that the remote I took out of the main building before I locked up doesn't alter the channels on this TV down here or really work at all. I will attempt again tonight after my late shift ends again but I'll try and figure out which remote at the cash register is for this laundromat TV. Because if I can get it to work here and get on LIVE here... that would be amazing. 'Sides, I need to install American McGee's Alice to my system. Alice: Madness Returns' achievement list demands it!
Oh crap. that must suck. Well I hope that the ZZquil suggestion I gave you worked cause I want to help you out in any way.
I have had one of my friends talk to me about Alice. She loves it and is going to get it next year and she is estatic. I recently saw Pewdiepie play it and it looks fun. Is there any other content than single-player? Unless it's something like Limbo or Bioshock Infinite IDGAF about multiplayer.
Not that I've noticed; both American McGee's Alice games seem to be completely single-player (I played the original when it came out and it's one of my top favorite games ever made, and my absolute favorite iteration of the "Alice in Wonderland" universe -- of which I've always been a big fan -- that has ever been created; can't even picture any other Cheshire Cats anymore, always the mangy one from these games).
I'll likely get on for a couple hours tonight after I get home in like 15+ minutes or so, and I'll make sure to check for you.
I didn't see it in the game on my last two game sessions (last night and this morning). Read a forum that stated they were sure it wouldn't have multiplayer in it (which makes sense to only be single player for an American McGee game, since they're sort of old-style psychological horror, like the Silent Hill before Silent Hill). The wikipedia article only states single-player in its modes section of the inset, as well.
Thanks. Also I got really pissed today. I did not know that Monaco was delayed the week of it's release date. I was so excited for that game. Oh well. (EVEN CRITICS GOT IT! UGH!) Reminds me of Half Life 2 on the Dreamcast.
I've not heard of Monaco yet, although I have both good news and bad news on my own end.
1) Good news: My mother went to "town" (Fairbanks, 110 miles away) and bought a new Internet USB thumb stick while I was at work today, so I can have Internet at home again.
2) Bad news: Since she went on her own and didn't take me, I didn't get to pay off all my reserved video games to prepare to have them getting mailed to me. OK, so that's not really bad news to you, but it is for me. Also, that means I couldn't replace my nice pen that my boss stole from me the other day. He actually stole my other one today too, but left it in the back and so I successfully stole it back. They are remaining in my pocket(s) henceforth from now.
Aye, but he isn't the first boss of mine who has done that. Coincidentally, both bosses stole the same pen type -- the one the recent one stole was in fact my replacement for the pen my boss before him had stolen.
That's... a darn good question. I know that it isn't a Bic brand pen, and the name has a "-5" at the end of it. It should be easy enough to find at, say, Office Depot or OfficeMax, but I don't live anywhere near either of those two places anymore. I think they come in packs of four, with black (I know), and probably blue, green and red, but only the black one is useful to me. I probably have the other ones SOMEWHERE but good luck to me finding them (also, they're not BLACK).
You should get one of those combo pens if you can where it is four colours in one pen and you click the color to use the color. Though after telling me that you do not live anywhere near OfficeDepot, that might be a conundrum.
Well, one of mine already came out (Aliens: Colonial Marines). However I want to marathon the movies, play the game where it fits in and then finish with the rest of the movies, and I don't own Prometheus yet (don't care what they say, it's all one universe to me).
Outside of that, I'm excited for a ridiculous number of games:
StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, Gears of War: Judgment, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards: Reloaded (just for the nostalgia of playing those games when I was 13 at CompUSA haha), Dead Island: Riptide, Heroes of Might and Magic VI (aka "Might & Magic Heroes VI"): Shades of Darkness, Remember Me sounds fun (though I've been wary of Capcom as of late), Grand Theft Auto V, Dead State, Command & Conquer 2013, The Elder Scrolls Online, Killer is Dead maybe, Mars: War Logs, Phantasy Star Online 2, South Park: The Stick of Truth, State of Decay, Star Wars 1313, Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Rise of the Hutt Cartel & XCOM.
I'd be interested in Lost Planet 3 but I could never get past Mission 9 in Lost Planet: Extreme Condition so was really unable to follow along with the series. I would also be interested in Resident Evil: Revelations, Pokémon X and Y, Donkey Kong Country Returns, & Shantae and the Pirate's Curse if I had a 3DS and The Last of Us if I owned a PlayStation 3 yet haha... which I totally would if I could find an old one with PS2 backwards compatibility. >.>
Yeah, when I was a kid there wasn't EVEN a rating system until the end of my elementary days, so for the most part I guess I sort of lucked out, lol. As for Colonial Marines, I haven't heard anything except that my one friend I know who played it didn't like it. I'm in it specifically for the fact that it's the official sequel to Aliens, which I am a massive fan of. I have to go to town to download my reservation items which won't happen until mid-month for me (no wifi access where I live since it's on a USB drive). I really hope I get some pleasure out of it, though the only Aliens games I've played were the arcade Aliens vs. Predator beat 'em up, both FPS Aliens vs. Predator, and the AVP from like 2010.
I'll tell you what, though. I am definitely impatiently waiting to plug it in and find out how it is, lol...
Nice! Haha, yeah, I don't even own a PS3 yet — I was one of those people who got scammed by the PS2 Hard Drive fiasco so I insisted that the PS3 would be the last current gen system I would buy, and I only finally bought my Wii last year, lol (which I've only played one game on so far, haha).
Oh hey, sweet — my brother-cousin (1st cousins but raised as essentially brothers) did the environments in inFamous 1.
Well my brother wanted a Playstation 3 I forget for which reason. My grandmother had recently bought it for her son but he didnt want it for some reason so she gave it to us. The only game I have on it is Rayman Origins and Uncharted 2.
Yep! He currently works for Microsoft though what he works on is always super hush-hush so I didn't goad him into telling me what he's working on (even the game ITSELF is hush-hush, which is interesting, though I know that his company was super hush-hush on the fact that they had inFamous 2 planned before inFamous 1 was released).
By the way, I've noticed we included some staff here on the wiki. Is there a guideline for this, like just heads of each gaming production (like Keiji Inafune for the Mega Man metaseries or Shiguru Miyamoto and Gunpei Yokoi for various Nintendo stuff) or any staff that there's any information to get?
I've also been considering adding staffroll information to pages here when I've beaten the games in question (been playing the Megaman Zero series lately, took screenshots of the staffrolls just in case). Is that a good plan to do so when we have the information available?
Indeed, he did a huge amount of the 3D modeling for items and buildings and such too, which was cool. It was probably a little weird for him though when I was running around using only items that I knew he created, haha.
