Mortal Kombat Gold - Gameplay - Dreamcast

Mortal kombat gold

Mortal Kombat Gold is a fighting game for the Dreamcast released on September 9th 1999. It was made by Midway and is rated M. It was a launch title for the Dreamcast and was an updated version of Mortal Kombat 4 with six new characters.

Recception:[]

Mortal Kombat Gold was recieved lukewarm by critics. IGN gave it a 6.3\10 and GiantBomb gave it a 5\10. Critics gave these scores due to the games floppy controls, the glitches, difficulty, and how the Dreamcast controller was not meant for fighting games in general.

Trivia:[]

  • Mortal Kombat Gold did not sell well due to SoulCalibur (a much better fighting game for the Dreamcast) coming out on the same day.
  • The game shipped with many problems including manual statements that were not in game.

Version 2.0[]

Because of the games negative reception it was reshipped a month later as "Version 2.0". This version

came with the improved fixes aslong with a red disc and Hot! New Sticker. Many video game collectors consider the non Version 2.0 version to be rare because copies of Version 2.0 were shipped as the only version of the game later on.
