Ninja Gaiden is an action-adventure hack n' slash game developed by Team Ninja and published by Tecmo (Eidos Interactive for the PS3 European version and Koei Tecmo for the Vita release). It was released for multiple consoles a number of times, but the first release was for the Microsoft Xbox on March 2, 2004.
Despite the name and its original intention to be a reimagining of the original game on the NES, it was later decided to be a prequel to the original game. It is later followed up by Ninja Gaiden II and Ninja Gaiden 3, whose titles further confuse the narrative. It is also officially set in the same continuity as the Dead or Alive franchise of which Ryu is a recurring playable character.
Synopsis[]
The game involves series protagonist Ryu Hayabusa, a "super ninja" whose quest takes him to recover a stolen sword and avenge his clan's slaughter.
