Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together is a reboot of the turn-based role-playing strategy game for the Super Famicom. It is for the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3, rated T and made by Square Enix. The game was released on February 15th, 2011. It is the only remake in the Ogre Battle series.

Development[]

The "Tactics Ogre" part of the title refers to being a tactical game in the Ogre Battle series; the series' name was inspired by the 1974 song "Ogre Battle" by famous English rock band Queen. The game's subtitle, "Let Us Cling Together" also is named after a Queen song - specifically "Let Us Cling Together".

In 2010, series creator Yasumi Matsuno chose to remake the game, but left the characters, storyline, and setting of the game identical to the initial 1995 release.

Overview[]

The classic 1995 Super Famicom epic Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together is remade for a new generation of fans with this PSP edition enhanced with new side stories, characters and graphic elements. The game includes new graphics, music, and gameplay, as well as a re-arranged soundtrack from the original composers including 15 new compositions.

Reception[]

The game received bountiful positive reception with scores like an 8.5 from IGN.

Influence[]

After creating Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, Matsuno went on to be responsible for another highly influential title in the same style, Final Fantasy Tactics, released in 1997. Although the two games are part of different franchises, some critics considered FFT to be the spiritual successor to Tactics Ogre.

Another game series with somewhat similar style that likely has some Tactics Ogre inspiration is Project X.
