First Night[]

The protagonist, an unnamed college student, wakes up at 11:35 PM to start getting ready for her overnight shift at the local convenience store in an unspecified area of Japan. After changing her clothes, microwaving and eating a bento for breakfast, and grabbing her flashlight, she heads out. Upon arriving at the store, her coworker for the shift before her, Ken-kun, shows relief that she made it in stating that someone had recently fallen off of the bridge she just crossed to get to the store. He also tells her how an old lady told him she saw a man with backwards-facing legs recently, indicating Yokai activity in the area.

The protagonist clocks in to work and Ken-kun leaves. The protagonist is tasked with checking the shelves for expired items and has the choice of either throwing them all in the garbage or giving one of the bags of expired items to a mentally disturbed homeless man sitting on the curb outside. As time passes a customer will come in and buy an item and she has to ring him out. Next, a delivery man arrives with a package with her name on it, and tells her that he will be delivering items during her shift from now on. When he leaves, she is able to take the package home with her, ending the First Night.

Once home, she opens the box to find a mysterious VHS tape, which she plays in her VCR. The footage is confusing and little information is conveyed before the short tape ends.

Second Night[]

As the protagonist wakes up, her microwave suddenly starts cooking on its own, even with no food placed within it. She grabs her flashlight and heads out again, only to find that this night is much darker than the previous one. When she arrives at work she clocks in and Ken-kun leaves again. She finds a note in the back office from the manager stating that rats have infested the dumpsters out back and Ken apparently has neglected to perform the task, leaving it to her to do instead. She grabs a can of rat spray from the walk-in cooler and takes care of six rats rummaging around out back before returning inside.

Third Night[]

The protagonist wakes again at her usual time and prepares for work. She grabs her flashlight and an umbrella, knowing that it is raining pretty hard outside. At this point, she receives a knock at her front door and upon answering it, finds a box outside but no one there to greet her. She brings the box inside and finds another VHS tape. Watching it again reveals little, and she proceeds to head in to work.

Fourth Night[]

The protagonist wakes up suddenly back in her house, unsure if what she just experienced was a nightmare or not. She assumes that it was and prepares to head in to work again as it is once again 11:35 PM.
